Hard Times was composed in 1991 but remained unused until the Spasmaticae recordings in 1992, during which it was immediately promoted to the number one spot on the demo tape. From thereon it became Pro Patria's most popular track ever and rightfully deserved the maxi single version which was released contemporaneously with the 1997 album Quod Erat Demonstrandum.
